question, how the h*ll do i get the damn shift knob off??

ive got a 71 f250 auto, so its on the column, its all original and i dont want to scratch the chrome..anything helps!

You mean you want to take the knob off the end of the shifter arm? I'm not sure it can be easily removed, to be honest with you. Why do you want it off?

It's probably pressed on, so removing it is going to be a major PIA without damaging the shifter arm. If your knob is damaged, I'd say just replace the entire arm...might be a little easier. All you have to do is tap out the roll pin holding it to the shift collar, and the whole arm comes right out.

well i was wanting to put on an aftermarket knob, just for looks, stock looks good, but wouldnt mind some customization..

after looking at some catalogs, i noticed they only sold the knobs with the arm, so i think it might be a lost cause without replacing the whole are anyway..
