I cut them out very carefully with a reciprication saw, chisle, drill, and whatever else I could get in there. As far as getting the new ones on I drilled holes in the caps where the spotwelds should be and welded the holes to the bed as I don't have a spot welder.FORDification wrote:So how did you cut those end caps out....and how did you weld the new ones in?

to have a nice big garage where I can strip my truck down to the frame and do a complete rest mod job on it.
Actually used a 4000 psi pressure washer and that cut 90% of the rust and dirt off then used wire brush and sanding for the remaining bits. Then hoisted the chassis way up and painted the underside then lowered it and painted the top side.69F110 wrote:Did you just sand the frame down and then paint ?

It's Freightliner Chassis Black. I figure it will come off once it gets hot.
