i-beam drops brackets?

Post by boots »

ive installed my new 4" coils at the front of my 67 f100 2wd. I knew what was coming, problems with my i-beams, so since my new coils are long, my i-beams are making my tires curve in at the bottom. im looking for some Drop brackets for the i-beams, but cant find any. anyone know if people sell i-beam drop brackets? if not ill weld some up.

Autofab has 3-inch lift kits and 5-inch lift kits for 2WD trucks. Their kit includes those pivot brackets, though their photos of the kits don't show them. Maybe you could talk them out of a pair of the brackets by themselves. :hmm:

was looking at thoes whole kits, but expensive!!!! i called the guy that owns the place, and he said he could bend my i-beams , but for 575 bucks, one of my friends is coming around on the 11th ( hes a welder, and is building his own rock crawler from top to bottom completley ) to check out and see how big brackets will need to be made, and then make them with me. but if i find some drop brackets before the 11th that will fit, and work. then ill just use thoes.

i took the far end of both i-beams off last night, to see if my tires would kick out and sit normal if i lowered them down due to my bigger coils. the i-beams are sitting on jack stands about 5" lower that usual. so im going to have to weld brackets up.. and make sure they are very very strong. bending my i beams to fit correctly would be a huge bend and probably impossible to do. i dont see any problems that will occur due to my new brackets. but i think ill have to get a pitman arm for a 4" lift.

uuummmmm...... how are you holding up the truck chassis in that pic?
if there isnt any weight on the chassis (at the front suspension), then you are not getting an accurate measurement for those brackets.
seems to me they will end up being to large of a drop (@ 5") for accurate alignment.

might try fabbing up a smaller temp. drop bracket, and installing it. then dropping the truck back to the ground and getting your measurments that way.

just my :2cents:

yea, there is alot to do just to get a good fit. i took 2 jack stands, and took the middle out of them both ( were it adjusts so you can change the height ) and set them under there since i needed something low to see if the tires would sit straight. the tires are on the floor and if i would take the jack stands off everything would just fall to the floor. so pretty much the jack stands are acting like a bracket but just under the i-beams. also after i build the brackets up, im going to order a Ford i beam ford alignment so i can Adjust camber on i beams 1-2 degrees. just if i need to.

That much lift should have new radius arms too. Longer ones with different mounts. You can't just change one thing without re engineering the whole thing. Then you need a dropped pitman arm so it doesn't bump steer.
