a lil OT, but thought i would share...

Post by lightning_msd »

ok, so as some of you might know, im currently building a 347 stroker for my 1990 F150 "Betty" so that i can get that project out of the way and put in the rest of my 67 in the garage for a makeover.... well i got most of the engine together, im just waiting on a water pump and an electric fan...
so heres a pic of before and after:

After

hope you like the old ford blue mixed up with the new ford blue, i wanted a kinda retro- newer retro- new look... and i added up my cost so far, and the reason this build took so long was so that i would penny pinch on everything... but i did it at just under 1200 bucks, not bad, whats my secret? ill never tell....

that intake is coming off too eventually, when i have enought money for a ken bell twin screw supercharger :D

It would probably run better with a Procharger centrifugal setup for half the price... just my :2cents:

Ive seen 87-93 mustang kits installed trucks like yours, if you use mustang parts( intake, front accessory drives, water pump ect..) it should fit. check with tech support, though, about fitment issues and stuff like radiator, fuel lines, intercooler setup and stuff. Or maybe check other manufacturers for lightning setups. try and get a kit that has a self-contained head unit, so you don't have to run oil lines and stuff.

ya, thats what i was afraid of, i used to have all of that, but without the supercharger:

this was a 331 stroker, at the time, 347's were bad news...i think the mustang looks girly, and it would take a bit for me to put one in my truck, i would have to swap sides with the battery and probably re-route a lot of wiring, or i could just go with a vortech supercharger and be fine... i dont want to get too crazy.... i dont want to get it to a point i can never drive it except on strip...

It wouldn't be that bad, just basic engine stuff. the truck intake sucks, thats why i would use mustang stuff. or go lightning.

I'm curious why you didn't just find a low mileage roller 351 and put a decent set of heads on it? Later on put a set of mustang shorties on backwards and a pair of smaller turbos and go smoke the tires at will. You're obviously already running mass air and an A9L processor. FYI, the stock truck intakes flow a lot more air than the stock stang pieces.

I was talking about after market intakes, not stock. And I don't think the backwards shorties would work unless the engine was moved back a foot and the radiator was moved forward for the turbos. I would build a stroker (600") boss 429 with a 100% overdriven 10-71 and nitro mechanical injection ect. But thats me.  :fr: :drive:  8)

Flipped shorties work just fine for turbos. Guys do it in mustangs all the time and the truck has more room. I know guys w/ 94/95 mustang w/ AC and PS that flipped shorties to run turbos. It isn't too hard.
