Striped wire, can it be purchased?

Post by dcbullet »

I've been looking online for a source of striped wire that will maybe match the Ford colors. I haven't had any luck.

Does anyone know of a source?

Also, what gauge is the general wiring in the F-100?

I have looked for striped wire without luck. Waytek Wire will stripe wire, but the quantity you have to purchase would make the cost to great. Perhaps a firm that specializes in restoration may be a source. The next best solution would be to reuse parts of an old wiring harness. Then you have an insulation age (deterioration) problem. The next issue is to match connectors - 1, 2, 3, & 4 wires and some are colored. Ford used a 0.180" bullet connector. I have found them in catalogues, not purchased any yet.

These are the guys you might want to talk to:

http://www.riwire.com/

They sell proper wire in bulk, etc.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. Thanks! Now to see if they have the color combinations we need.

Price is not too bad. Minimum of 10 feet, at $0.20 to $0.22 per foot. for 18 and 16 guage. I can accept that .

Great link! :D

Rhode Island Wiring has a very good reputation in the ye olde British car world, which is where I skin most of my knuckles. Seem like good folks, and an impressive selection of goodies.

Their prices also seem very competitive. Good luck!
