re: pic's on 67 p/s conv
Well Crew,
Everything came to screeching halt. UPS lost one of my front springs, new one on back order. So I had time to trim my back trees. While doing so, the ladder slipped and drop me @ 18', I landed on my right leg shattering my ankle. So will be sometime before I get back to getting the truck on the road. Hopefully I'll be able to get the boys on it when all my parts get in.

Man that sucks!! Sorry to hear that. Make sure you have all the correct bushings for those springs b4 you take Skyjacker off your speed dial, they shorted me on my 1st shipment. So what did the UPS guys face look like when he tried to hand you springs for a 3 wheeler? If you lived closer or gas wasn't $3.00gal I'd make a trip to help ya with some progress.

Nice Bites that they have taken so long with the springs. Skyjacker carries a rear brake line, you could get from 4 wheel parts or national tire and wheel online.

There is a surplus outfit near me that makes up dot stainless braided lines. I priced Skyjackers front lines $120.00, I went to G&J they made them while I waited for $55.00. I also got the Heim joints, and weld in bungs for the drag link there.

Did they have the fitting/ block deal that bolts to the axle and has the inlet connected to it and 2 side ports like the original? If so I'll send you some cash to grab another line if you are near there again. no place in town here has such a thing so I have a cheezy T there held in place by the lines.

Just a little more info for people considering the Skyjacker lift kit. The kit is not for our bumps, is for Dents, the hardware kit came w/ u bolts front and rear; poly bushing and sleeves, for the front springs. The rear u bolts will not simply replace the old stock.
I reused my old u bolts.
Here is a side by side photo.

All it takes to make the rear u-bolts work is the spring plates that go above the springs off a 2x or later bumpside.... Then you don't have the threads hanging down waiting to be damaged and not running 35 or so year old u-bolts still.....

Round U-bolts are a lot weaker than square with the cast plate on the bottom. They seam to hold up to a lot more abuse. U-bolts aren't torque to yeild or anything, There's nothing really wrong with re-using them if they're in good shape.
I've had new made in china U-bolts that come with lift kits break/stretch where 40 year old beat down rusty ones have held up no problem.
If U-bolts are a concern, your best bet is to have some correct ones made at a spring shop. I always up the size to 5/8". The light duty F-250 4x4's came with 9/16" U-bolts the 7700 GVW trucks had 5/8".

Typically spring shops are a better source for spring hardware than a 4x4 store. Spring shops that work on big truck stuff and have all the right tools and experience usually get you a better product. Thier U-bolts are just lengths of rod that they bend to your specs in a specially made brake. The bolts I've gotten locally always have manufacturer names and material specs stamped in them, that's piece of mind for me.
