Pulling a booster tommorow

Post by oldschoolrods »

I started pulling a booster today off a 75 i belive and had to stop cause i didn't have all the right tools and i just wanna make sure I get everything, I pulled the master cylinder off that truck, now I just gotta disconnect the brake pedal and get that little vaccum fitting for the intake correct? Also what kind of tools do you need to disconnect the brake pedal? Thanks

A pair of pliers. All you have to do is pull one pin on the end of the pivot shaft, pull that pivot shaft out and the brake pedal will drop right out....assuming you've disconnected it from the booster already.

The vacuum hose to the booster (usually) has a clamp which secures it to the firewall to keep it out of the way. You'll probably want that. Just be sure to get the nipple off the intake manifold and the hose and clamp, and you should be set.

You mentioned you pulled the master cylinder already. Did you keep it to use? I just wanted to remind you, in case you forgot, that the disc brake master cylinder is different from the drum brake version. If you're just upgrading to power drum brakes, you can reuse your old master cylinder. If you're upgrading to discs, then you need the one off the '75.

Well I got it pulled today, can't wait to get home from school this weekend to put it on and try it out. Like you said keith one pin and i could push the shaft out and then unbolt the pushrod.
