hi these pics are both 1967 f100 why the difference.

For '67, the standard heater didn't have any controls in the dash. It was controled on the heater itself, that's why the 'off', 'on' and 'def' on the heater box are highlighted. If you turn the gamma up on that pic you can make out the lever arm control. The deluxe heater got the controls on the dash and the names are not highlighted on the heater box but they are still there. In fact the names stayed on the box even though the later years all got dash controls.

Love the shifter on the blue one!
