Glovebox door interchange

Post by FORDification »

I've never tried this, so I'm not 100% sure...but the '73-'79 glovebox doors will fit the '67-'72 trucks, won't they? I know the latches interchange, but I wasn't absolutely certain on the whole door.

What made me ask was THIS AUCTION on E-bay for a chromed glovebox door that was thought was kinda cool. Not up my alley, but still cool...

I measured mine and the 74 is longer and narrower than my 72's.

ah...OK. Well, I appreciate the info. I guess it's just one more thing we can cross of the list of interchangeable parts between the two eras.

No problem. It's kinda nice to have the 74's on hand to do some checking.

Didn't some of the 73-79s have a locking glove box? I wonder if that item would fit ours, just the latch mechanism not the whole door.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Yes they did, and yes they will. I swiped a locking mechanism from a '75 that I'll be using on my '67 glovebox door.

I was wondering about that .....I really rather just get another 67-72 door (my glovebox has been overstuffed to where wnen you close it the top is sort of bent outward) but the later models seem to have more in the scrapyards...I have not found any doors in the catalogs
