Any chance for a Meet&Greet or Swap Meet/Show in Florida

Post by Sharkdance »

I havent been on this forum for to long but I have noticed quite a few members in the Florida area.
I have no idea what it takes to put an event together but thought it would be great to have one in Florida for us southerners to gather.

So, is there any chance for an event in Florida? What is the procedure to get the ball rolling such an event?

I live in Jacksonville Florida so even an event in southern Georgia would be accessable for me.

Thanks

Cool! But now what? I think I read in another post that someone counted like 19 Florida members? But I guess not all of those are active members.

Anyway, if enough folks are interested in having one here in Jacksonville I could check if the local ford dealership will sponsor it. (I work at a dealership and know a few folk in da buisiness  )
Jacksonville is located kinda north in Florida but makes it closer to neighboring states. (Ga, Al, MS, SC)

Would apreciate some input.

Cool!!
I guess then we should begin by setting a date if we can get some more members to agree on the place. (Jacksonville Florida)

Hey Shark, that's a good idea. I don't know when I would be available but, when I am back in the states long enough, it might be fun.

Looking at the stats page, I noticed it shows a total of 6 members in/from Florida. 4 of which are in Jacksonville.
My question is, who are the other 3 in Jacksonville (Im one of em) and would you be willing to attend a meet-up/swap-meet kind of thing?
I myself would love to find others in or near my local area to barter/trade with or just meet and shoot the bull with about our old trucks.

I have a 72 F100 that Im parting out after I finish a cab swap for my 70 F250. Its been slow going because Ive been attempting to do it all single handedly.
It would be nice to meet others around here with simular passions about these old trucks and ,swap parts, compare notes, bench race, help each other out, or just shot the sh#t with.

I know I started this thread like 9 months ago but finaly it seems that thier might be some interests in actualy having a Meet&Greet or Swap Meet/Show in the S/E.
I think at least two other members agree that Jax. Fl. is a pretty central place to have it. And one person even suggested a time of year. (end of Sept. - beginning of Oct.)

Me being in Jax. would give me the oportunity to help host an event and try to set things up here.

So Im putting this out there again... How about a FORDification event for the S/E???

How about a goal of end of Sept. - beginning of Oct. for the time frame?

First step beyond that would be agreeing on a place. (Jacksonville Florida?)

Barring any unforseens I could definately make it first part of October.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
I have nothing to swap, or skills to exhibit but would be eager to speak with anybody who does. Wait a sec...I can in fact make coffee.

Keep me posted!

Thanks,
Tom

October it is then.

Weekend dates: 7th, 8th, 14th, or 15th?

Anybody else?
Any probs with J-ville?

If you have a truck, your welcome. Hell if you even like 67-72 trucks your welcome.
Ive seen at least 4 other 67-72 Fords here in Jax. Im sure theres more.
Im gonna see about getting some more business cards from Keith and try to pass some out around here. (if its OK with Keith)

Maybe trukcrazy can make it and bring some of his cool T-shirts to sell.
I smell a swap meet commin on...... 8)

Gonna start scouting out a place suitable to have a gathering around here.

Sounds like you are getting it planned out. I won't be able to make it in October, but then I am not 100% positive when I will be home. Just make sure you get plenty of pictures for us. :D

sharkdance,

Should be all moved to central Florida by then :shh: Got friends in Jax and spent time there in the Navy, (though I haven't seen it since about 84).

Hopefully we're settled into new house, tentatively on the calender
