Greetings all,
I find myself in a small dilema that I'm hoping you guys can help me out with. I'm in the process of servicing the front brakes on my '68 F100. Problem is the previous owner had a disc brake swap done and has no clue as to where or what the brakes were sourced from. So I ask, what are the most common model and year vehicles our trucks get brakes from? Any help will be highly appreciated.
TIA

Re: front disc brake servicing
Throw us up some pictures...
The most common would be dent side brakes, but there are other options like scarebird, MP and wilwood...
Are the caliper mounts made into the spindles?
There are some pictures on my project thread: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 7&start=60 of 73/74 parts.

Re: front disc brake servicing
BTW,
The common method is to swap the whole suspension with dent side (73-79) Parts, so the I beam numbers may be a good clue (also are the radius arms stamped)
It the conversion is more than 5ish years old and it has I beams, it is likely either Dentside or MP Brakes.

Re: front disc brake servicing
Check out the articles I posted and links within them.
Later model dent side trucks had stamped radius rods (from the I -Beam to the framerail) vs the forged ones that bunpsides have.
Also the numbers on the front i beams decoded against the chart in the articles will give you an idea of what the donor was is its Ford stuff... the pads and rotors may be the same though.

In case you missed it, there's a link at the top of the I-Beam page with their casting numbers. http://www.fordification.com/tech/str-s ... ations.htmDuckRyder wrote:Check out the articles I posted and links within them.
