Working on making it shine again

Post by Damon23 »

Well, after the whole twisted bed distraction I regrouped and started cleaning. The before pictures were after it washed it with dawn soap to strip off any and all waxes and polishes and any grit and grime.

I bought a porter cable 7424xp orbital polisher. I used mequires ultimate compound and polish. Did really good. I had to stop cause the pads were loaded up real bad. I guess I need to buy more pads. Looks good, lots of imperfections. I wonder just how long ago this truck was repainted and did they strip it down to metal and resprayed it cause the paint is thin.

More to come as I finish the other side. I ordered the new wheel vintique wheels and tires last night so I'll have to paint those and get them on with the dog dish caps I bought in Daytona last year.

I wish my paint looked half as good.

The new meat is mounted and ready to go on. More work to do first but I'm overall happy with the size selection. 15x8 wheel vintiques ford style steel wheels with 235/75/15 tires.

Got the new lugnuts. Gotta love that 7pm fedex delivery. I'll get the other side done tomorrow. Waiting on the new rear shocks, then front brakes and a oil change. Then off to Vegas for a week and when I get back I start pulling the inside apart and cleaning. For now, wheel teaser pictures.
