Need a picture of brake hose routing

Post by jck_in_nc »

I performed the standard drum-to-disc conversion on my 67. I let too much time pass and don't know which hose goes on which side. I also don't remember how the hose runs from the caliper to the new longer bracket. I've checked the tech note.

A picture or four are worth a thousand words.

If you also know about the washers required for the front-end rebuild, that would help.

Will these work?

I bent all new lines, so the steel lines coming up under the frame to the front brackets aren't exactly factory-looking...they would usually look more like this:

If you're using the earlier crossmember-mounted proportioning valve than the routing will differ a little.

Nice work, Keith. Where did you get the braided hoses?

I'm not using braided hose...just regular replacement lines. Didn't even cross my mind when I picked these up, but I've decided since then that I will go ahead and use braided for the flexible lines. Now would be the time to replace them, since I don't have any fluid in the system yet.

And I didn't want to use stainless steel for the hard lines since I wanted to bend them myself, for the experience. Stainless is so much harder than steel for a person to bend/flare that it's usually recommended a person buy pre-bent stainless lines rather than trying to do it himself.

Great! Can I also get a picture of the hose going into the caliper? I don't know which is my right or left hose anymore.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Keith P.!

FYI: I heard that their all out of stock on the Stainless Steel hose but they're overstocked on the copper and pot-metaled one's and are willing to make a deal on 'em!
Also since their roof leaked at the warehouse during the last rain storm they're clearing out their complete inventory of steel wool (you can buy it buy the pallet and save!!!). :P
