help from the big boys/girls!?

Post by meggiejoy »

hey guys and grls. really thinking for buying a 1970 250xlt camper special from a local older man...but it will be the first truck that ive ever owned... anything to look for, watch out for, be cautious of, or to ask speicifically about? i would ideally like to keep this truck for years, and would like the thumbs up that this could be a wise investment. any advice that you can offer would be great!!!

look for rust in the usual places, which are the floor, cab mounts, drip rail, inner fender lip, bottom of the door (outside), bed...am I forgetting anywhere?

Since you've got one truck in particular in mind, do you have any more details on it?

:hi: and :wel: by the way :D

Pretty much what lizz said also look for obvious frame problems. and wiring(lights that don't work).

Also, check for tin foil were old blown fuses used to be....

I'm a real fan of original, somewhat unmolested vehicles...I'd rather have faded original paint than seven layers of Earl Schieb diamond-gloss covering up the bondo....I'd prefer a tired original motor to a truck that's on it's third or fourth engine...Even if you planned on customizing or hotrodding your XLT,IMNSHO,it's better to start with a clean original than a mishmash of early Ford parts being pawned off as "all original"...Old-timers can be good stewards of old trucks, and sometimes,if you're ready to buy when they're ready to sell,it can be a beautiful thing...you might come across a real gem...Good luck to you,and I hope you found yourself a nice truck that you can enjoy for years...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!
