factory NON-Hiboy??

Post by 72hiboy4x4 »

did they make a '71 4x4 truck from the factory that was not a Hiboy? and would that have a married tranny and transfer case?
the reason I'm asking is, I have a guy that wants a married set I have, but I'm not sure this is what he needs. I just want to make sure before one of us travels 80 miles or so R/T to see it in person.

I don't belive so but I'm sure the married unit could be installed if he had some time and effort and a few extra parts.

he says he has a married unit in the truck now. very specific. apparently the NP435 is bad in his truck and he needs a new tranny.

Has he had the truck from new? Maybe someone has upgraded it in the last 30 yrs. I looked at the sales brochure and the 100 4x4's have a 1 speed transfercase that is a divorced unit also and reconfirmed by this page http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... 72F250.jpg

For what it's worth... I just crawled under my '70 F100 4x4 and it's got the transfer case bolted direct to the rear of the trans. It's a single speed transfer.

Sweet, funny how it was this big deal that the 77.5-79 F250's have a married case when the 100's had em the whole time

My 1972 4x4 F100 had the 435 tranny married to a model 21 single speed xcase. It was the two wheel drive 435 (square bolt pattern) tranny. Check out Novak for more info on the 435s--shoot--I bet Keith already has something here about the 435s.

A married 205 xcase can be made to fit (drill holes in the frame for side xcase mount, fab tranny mount bracket extension) the 67-72 F100, but you need the trapezoid bolt pattern 435 (four wheel drive version). You will need a longer speedo cable also. Use the existing F100 front driveline and the rear driveline out of (1977 F150) same donor truck you get the 205 from. That's what I did on my rig. Take it easy.
1972 F100 4x4 351M, HEI-TFI ignition, 435 4 speed, 205 xcase, wiper delay, additional dash lights, power disc/drum brakes, chevy short shaft, Moser long shaft w/Spicer 760 u-joints in both, and armstrong steering.
