Use a volt meter on the battery. It should read around twelve volts. If it does and you have no power to anything (try turning on your headlights) then you probably have a bad connection. My wifes car had this problem Friday evening. It took me about 15 minutes to fix. Just cleaned the connections real good.

check all of your connections, if they are corroded, clean or replace them.

A fully charged battery should be closer to 13 volts than 12. If it was really dead they may not have charged it long enough. Most parts stores should be able to test it for you to see if it's OK.
