Who out there has a worse bump than this?!

Post by f100x2 »

This is my '72 f100 4x4. Paid $100 for it. It is in horrible condition, but I plow snow with it, haul fire wood, and beat it around for fun and it still runs and drives half decent. Only a bump would take this kind of abuse.

This truck was actually within walking distance of my house. It had been parked behind a garage for years and the owner was going to junk it, but he knew I had another bump and asked me if I wanted any parts from it. I offered him $100 for the truck and he said sure just as long as I get it out of their for him. I took it and boy am I glad I did! Very useful and now I have two bumps to play with.

What was bought from summit, oh wait, the fan. lol THAT'S IT!!! Just a fan, its the best part on that truck though, if the fan wasn't there the truck would almost look like crap. She's in pretty rough shape man.

I can't wait to see how long it lasts with the way I use it. It is used daily for plowing in the winter and hauling wood in the summer. And when its not doing that it is doing burnouts or donuts on the farm fields. I actually take it up and down the road a few times every once in a while.

I would have given $100 for it in a heart beat. I would love to find a smallblock/4spd/4x4 to put my body on.

I remember when I was working construction one summer, one of the guys had a truck that was that bad. He pulled up one day with a load on and had a rope tied around the bed through the wheel wells. He un-tied the rope and the bed sides slid off onto the ground. The only thing holding them on was they were attached to the front of the bed, the floor and the back was rusted off. He unloaded the stuff, threw the rope under the bed, propped the bed sides back up and tied the rope around it to keep them on.

Before I even got to the engine pic I knew it had a 302 since I could see the valve cover through the hood... I've never seen a hood rot like that, except maybe in a junk yard. I can see where it would be fun to beat on though!

Love the tailgate! Painting Ford on it was probably overkill IMO. Like you said earlier ONLY a Ford could be in that shape and still be operational everyone knows that!
