the last carbed vehicle i worked with was a 71 el camino with a 468, the carb was an older holley 750 double pumper. the car acted like it was 180 degrees off on the timing and basically would run for beans, finally it quit running and if it did start it would die when it came to a stop, i bought a Holley street avenger and BAM, the car ran great, that carb fixed a few problems that i didnt think were carb related and a bunch that were ( leaking and hesitation/sputtering). If your having continuous trouble and youve ruled out electronics, then your carb would be suspect IMO.

hesatation, black exhaust, no power, leaking fuel around the seals.

hmmm, thanks, im gonna see if changing ther coil and ignintion breaker?? i think the carb is gumming up or might be the float, i remeber when my dodge 400 convertable did the same thing to me.. sucks it would drive awesome for like 5 to 10 miles and then just die, cut off
