What are you asking ? You have one, you want to know if a 2by will work for cross over ?

no i dont think so. the 4x4 mounts infront of the axle and the 4x2 mounts behind the axle.

A 2 by box can be used if remounted in front of the axle, w/ drag link to driver side knuckle not cross over

It can be used for crossover or knuckle steering mounted up front, but I'd toss it and get a 78-79 box or run the highboy box with power assist. The 2wd boxes are not very good under a 4x4. They stick up too high and interfere with the radiator.

I don't mean to hijack but are there any modifications needed to mount a 78-79 box out of a bronco? I found one locally and may buy it if it's an easy swap.

Yep you need to swap out the rack for a 2by box, to change direction the box turns. link to Fordification info http://www.fordification.com/powersteering4wd.htm. I did it on my 67 high boy my thread http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =9&t=15700.

Since you're going crossover, why not use a GM Saginaw box?
