Average guy, well that would be me also. I have never been happy hiring things done, so i have been learning as i go over the years.

Probably have around 5 hours in it when i get done.
I just bought a harwood cowl scoop. Fitted it to my hood, cut the center out of my hood. It is mounted with fusor body panel epoxy, with a rivet every three inches. After that i put fiberglass mesh over the matting surface (where glass hood met steel hood) with resin. when it was dry i sanded a taper to it down to hood surface, The rest is fiber body filler. Just a thin coat to smooth it all out. The black color you see, is a guide coat i sprayed on it to help find the highs and lows.

I back halved the truck also, should be all done in a month or so.

OOOOps forgot, Name is Dave. i forgot to sign post.

Hope this helps, as you can see i am not very good behind a keyboard
