Autozone

Post by 69rangerman »

They take good care of me anymore since I've spent hundreds there while doing the rebuild. This post is for part fitment:

Purchased a "bolt in" replacement radiator from NPD and paid 275.00 for it. Took it home and spent the next 3 days finding out that there was no way around the fact that it did not line up with my support, and the flange was on the engine side. I was up against the vacation time off clock and figured I'd drop by the Zone and check.

For 152.00 it was an exact match and was the HD with/AC model to boot. Fired it up today and it works great.

I get to see how NPD'd return/credit policy is later today.

I'm in the Zone!

Sent my daughter there last weekend in Texarkana to get front brake shoes and 1 cylinder. We went to put the cyl. on and realized they sent everything for the rear. (After I told the guy on the phone several times it was the front and he asked me if I was sure it was the front.) Sent her back to get the correct ones and they discovered they hadn't even charged her for the shoes. Finally got them on though and luckily I was at our shop so it wasn't a lot of driving involved. Just wasted time.
On the + side though, I did have to send her back a third time to get a spring kit and the Manager found out what went on, my daughter is very vocal, and give it to her at no charge. So I guess it's turned out O K. I usually deal with them all the time and I guess they were having a bad day like anyone else. Our local store in Atlanta is always a good experience to deal with so I still reccomend them.

Hey guys,

Another thing about S.W. Florida I did not like was that I had no Autozone there in Naples. I've got one here in Bartow and they take really good care of me, (+ the fact they all speak English in this store).
Use my "rewards card" too and it pays off.
Much better than the clowns I had to deal with at "discount/advance".

I was in a need for a new radiator for my 71. The body man thats doing my truck workd in a shop and he did the radiator repair. Well he said mine was way to far to save. So he called all over the place and calld autozone 50 miles away secse this town only has a bumper to bumper and some other junkey place. Well they had a radiator for my truck that some one orderd but they changed there mine. Well the price was 168 but they sold it to me for 130 and life time warranty  .

So you can't get much better then that!

Used to have good service from the one near me but since "old man David" retired, I've been disappointed. The last straw:

Needed a new master cylinder for my bump. Went to Advance, O'Reilly's and NAPA. All had one but the threads and fittings were backwards. To use 'em, I would have to swap my rear line to the small pot and my front line to the large pot. Finally went to AZ and their's had the same threads on both ports on the body so I could put either fitting in either port. However, it only had one of the adapters in the bag. I asked the girl (yes, girl) if they had another one and she said "Sir, it only comes with one fitting". I told her "I'm sorry Miss, but they always have 2, this is missing one, it's defective." She proceeded to disagree with me. I asked her to pull any master cylinder she wanted to and they'd have 2. She grabbed another one and, of course, it did. I asked to order me another one and I'd pick it up Monday (this was on Sat.). She told me she couldn't because the computer said she had one in stock. I told her to mark that was defective, remove it from stock and order another one. She said..."I don't think I can do that." There were 3 other guys behind the counter (and I know they were listening) but none offered and she didn't ask. So I got my core back and left. I won't be going back.

Went to CarQuest and the guy took a quick look at my master cyl, and said "Old Ford, huh? Yeah, I think I've got one back here. What year? and I'll look it up." Went in the back and came back with a box that looked like it was 20 yrs old and the master was identical. Now that's a parts store!

Thats how our carquest is here. Its the only real parts store in the entire Coachella Valley. They have real experience countermen, a real machine shop, and actually stock holley carb kits on the shelf, along with all the jets and squirters, I get all excited when I think about car quest! :D

I get alot of good parts at both the Zone and O'riely's.

My only problem is with autozones special order system. And the way that if you can't make it in within the day or two it arrives it goes back.

other than that it's ok.

My experience with O'Reillys is they have a really good return policy.
But I had to use it way too many times  because of the kids they employ. Had lots of problems trying to get a new carb.
