Headlight conversion?

Post by hillbilly67 »

I was wondering if anyone has changed over their headlights to the kind with the replaceable bulbs. I'm in Canada, and not sure where to look to find these things. I've seen some square types, but so far have been unable to find round ones. I replaced the originals with halogens and put in relays which helped a lot, but, with 16 hrs of darkness, along with blowing snow most of the time, I would like to change them to the blue lights. It's either that, or move somewhere with a better climate! hmmm...maybe I should look into that a lil closer.....it's starting to snow right now! Great! Only 8 more months of this.....

I just ordered the lights and the harness from LMC trucks. I want be installing it any time soon so I can't give you any details on it. But it was less than a 100 bucks for the two lights and harness. Didn't buy the bulbs cause I'm going to buy some local.

Not a prblem glad I could offer some useful info for ya. Let me know how they work when you get them. If they work as good as they look then those things are gonna be awesome.

Hella makes 7" conversion headlamps that fit in the buckets. In fact LMC sells them for like $50 ea. They use the replacable bulbs. Word of warning "DO NOT RUN A STRONGER WATTAGE BULB, IT WILL CRACK THE LENSE!" At least that is their answer to why mine cracked (thermal cracking). I know longer use the headlamps. I found the nighthawks are really bright. I also have put relays into mine. That really helped.

bosch makes them to, and I found the seals/ bulb retainers to be much better than the competitions, and they plug right in to the stock plug, but they cost about $100 ta $125for a set . and are available at canadian tire, Napa, and all auto parts plus stores.

Good thread, I am planning on upgrading at some point. I already have half a room full of parts so I better hold off until I install some of what I have lol

Make sure you DO NOT have a plastic lens, they suck! The glass lens is the way to go! I did it on my buddy's Mustang. Super easy.
