Sun Tach question

Post by mrsnicks »

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33679

That is the tach I bought on ebay. I know very little about wiring and electrical items. Will this tach require some type of transmitter/sending unit, or is it a direct hook-up to the coil?

Thanks,
Patrick

So the "trigger" connection goes to the + side of the coil? The ign goes to the
ignition switch? And I know the hole is for a light bulb.. should be able to scrounge one of those pretty easy.

Trigger is the negative side of the coil.

I think the older two piece ones that needed a transmitter only had a (+) and (-) on the back. Street Rodder did an article on older Sun tachs.

Good find on the Sun Industrial Tach, I have one that goes to 6,000 rpms, still works like new from 1977.
Did you get the chrome can it sits in?
Check the calibration of it after it's installed, I have seen many that needed readjusted.
