67 F250 lift kit

Post by Sparky »

I just bought a 67 F250 4x4 (ranger??) from my tow truck driving neighbor who picked it up abandoned. I'd like to know if anyone makes a lift kit more than 4". I want to put 35's under it but it sits pretty low and don't know if 4" is enough? I have alittle money to spend since I only paid $200 (the impound fee) for it. Don't have do work on the motor either cuz some one rebuilt it. Any suggestions would be great.

Congrats on the new truck!
Skyjacker 4in lift will fit you 35's easily, and they ride pretty nice. I have them on my crewcab with a winch bumper and a 460 up front and the 35's are good in there. They also set your front axle a little further forward and get the tire away from the fender.

Is a '67 considered a Highboy?? this thing sits so low, maybe the springs are sagging that bad lol. Also with the 4" there are 2 options. should i go with the add-a-leaf in the back or with the 4" springs? The cost id double.

Stock springs will clear a skinny 35" tire. Many of these trucks are sagging pretty bad after 40 years of working. If you just want to fit 35's have the springs re-arched and an additional leaf put in to keep them up there. If you're around Portland, Benz spring does excellent work and they charge $65/spring to do it. The roughly 34"X8" 255/85R16 BFG muds on my 70 look very small in the stock wheelwells, but I like the factory look.

I did the add-a-leaf in the rear and have no complaints but she does ride nice and smooth with a load of anything in the back. If you have the $ to spend on it I'd buy the rear springs for the better ride.

I've never actually done anything to my rear springs except new bushings and they will easily clear 35X12.50's in the back. My truck was originally the 7700 GVW beast that came with an extra leaf in the front pack and factory rear overloads. It wasn't sagging much if any likely because it had a light 300 six in it for most of it's life. I got the truck when I was younger and the first thing to go was the front springs in favor of big lift springs. I tossed the originals and boy do I kick myself in the head over that. I got lucky and found a 38K original mile 69 F-250 4x4 rusted eastern washington parts truck with really nice front springs, had Benz do up the extra leaf and re-arch and good as the day she rolled off the assembly line. The truck rides pretty nice and everything works right at stock height, don't get me wrong, lifted highboys are very cool, but I don't notice any fewer looks driving down the road than when the truck was lifted and it drives perfect.

I did new stock leaf packs on all four corners. Had them arch them a bit and add an extra leaf in the front. She rides like an F250 4x4 pick up. Don't wanna hit to big of a bump too fast. I like it. Can't get 35" tires on the front.

Before I replace the leaf packs I had 1" of travel between the bumpstops and the packs in the front. It was time.

Hey Heep70, what size tires do you have on your truck? Looks awesome! My highboy still has the stock rims on it. I want to fill the out to the fender a bit more. P.s I might of cleaned your chimney before, your truck looks fimalliar.

Hey Greg, think my 70 might sit a squeek higher than yours. I've got the 60 front which makes for 1/2", but it's likely just a little more tweak in the springs. As I remember, my truck had 3" from spring to bumpstop when I got it and had 34X6.50X17 bias mud retreads on widow maker center split wheels. It doesn't ride like a new truck, but it definately handles better than it did with the lift. I like the ride and hate driving new trucks that float over bumps.

Thanks for all the info. i think there is a place down in eugene that will arch springs but i think ill just go with new ones. i wouldn't mind going even bigger tires to get that transfer case a little higher off the ground.

I also have a '67 Highboy. When riding on the stock springs, I ran 315/75/16(35x12.5x16) BFG A/T TA KO tires front and rear. The front rubbed just barely on the steering gear at a full right turn. After lifting the front about 1.5" with new springs, everything clears perfectly at all angles and on all terrain.

Here it is with 35's pre-lift:
