Re: Post your 4X4 pictures HERE!!
Well...one thing that can cause that...solid mount traction bars on leaf springs. Yes, I know, you see it all the time. But, here's the problem. the rear axle wants the move straight up and down when it hits a bump and it's hooked solid to the springs. Now, a traction bar mounted to the frame, that wants to move in an arch motion. You can see this if you just take a pencil and hold one end fixed and move it up and down on the other. The fixed up and down movment of the axle is fighting with the arch movement of the fixed bar. It tries to bind up. Hope I explianed that properly.

Re: Post your 4X4 pictures HERE!!
Yes, many (many) moons ago when I first started sand dragging. I would just fit up a set of ladder bars to to a rear axle with leaf springs. The thing was always out of hand and no matter what I did, I could not make it better. No one ever told me why. The suspension would bind up under power from one thing trying to move in one direction and the other trying to force it another way. I finally figured it out, built "sliders" where my axle hooked to the springs. This way it could move back with the arch of the ladder bar swing as well as up and down. It made all the difference in the world.CrypticRacer13 wrote:ive heard that same theroy years ago when drag racing so it makes sence to me

Re: Post your 4X4 pictures HERE!!
That shouldn't be an issue if the traction bars were setup correctly.
There shouldn't be an issue running traction bars, because the rearend does not move up and down, it moves in an arch, you just have to find the perfect pivot point...
As the rear suspension compresses, the axle moves up and BACK, and when it droops out the axle moves down and FORWARD, because of the shackle....
when the link is setup in just the right spot, the link will only guide the axle eliminating axle wrap, it shouldn't be fighting it.
Look at this picture and you might be able to imagine it.
Axle goes up, shackle pulls it back, link follows it back. Axle goes down, shackle pushes it forward, link "pulls" it forward.
Anyways, you guys may already know all that. But many do think the axle goes straight up and down. It really doesn't move forward and back that much with our short shackles and limited travel but it certainly does

Re: Post your 4X4 pictures HERE!!
i come from the mopar set up were we dont use ladder bars or links like the ford an chevy boys did. Mopars always had thier springs dialed to the T for the track an everyone just stood around wondering how the cars launched like they did haha. i think the guy before me just put them on cuz it was the hot thing to do to the cars back in the day but having 5" blocks put added stress on the pinon wrap like all blocks do in the offroad world so he could of been thinking like that...... who knows i cant stand the look of the things hahaha

Re: Post your 4X4 pictures HERE!!
there are 6 shocks.
Back in the day way before reservoir shocks ever came out they ran several white rockets. Now a single shock is better than 10 white rockets..
