updates 2/12/13

mockup, before installing
Image
soooo im gonna use the left one. the right 3M seems over zealous.
Image
some more mocking
Image
sooo this distributor doesn't fit. it hits my heater hose fitting.
Image
so i got a different one a pro bullet
Image
buuuut this one hits my temp sensor :( guess ill move it to the back.
Image

i also went ahead and put a new water pump on, it was lookin and sounding ruff. and painted a few things on the engine.
Image

i also took off the exhaust manifolds, and cleaned up the block a touch.
Image
Image

i got my twin i beam w/disk brakes from a guy a few towns over.
Image
he took it off a 74 f100 for me and brought it to my house for $240. which included the drag-link and proportioning valve. not a bad deal i say.
Image
Image
soo he said the proportioning valve was in good working order when he pulled it. the fluid coming out of it was clean.

but should i rebuild it anyway??

oh and one of the twin i beams has a slight vertical bend..... not sure if im too happy about this.
Image
what do u all think the verdict is on the severity of such a bend?? do i need to get another?

oh and heres my front sway bar

Image

ok on too some booster moch up questions

so heres a booster i got off a 67 fairlane. works great, but i need to know if anyone thinks the hood wont clear it?
i used the 67 fairlane brackets and all.
here are some pics for u
Image
Image
Image
Image

if it does clear the hood, which i think it will. it will require only 2 modifications to fit perfect.
right here i will have too lengthen a bolt whole on the brackets to make the bolts fit.
Image
and right here, where i will have to lengthen the rod to fit just right
Image
Image
Image

today i painted a few things(mid paint, not a good time to take a pic)
Image
and cleaned fire wall up with a scraper and a sos pad&water. then painted it once dried.
Image
Image
Image
ill paint the rest later. ive got some rust fixing/preventing work to do before i paint the rest.

Real good progress. It's a nice truck and you are using this to make it better, the old making lemonade out of lemons idea.

tylerb43 wrote:No problem - very simple and quick. Measure diagonally from a common reference point (maybe the forward-most crossmember rivet) to the bumper mount hole center on the opposite frame rail. Compare the two measurements, if they're different, you've got an issue and should have it put on a straightener. Now granted, a 1/16" of an inch probably won't be an issue.

Checking up and down is a little harder. But just measure up from a level floor on each side, making sure there's no extra weight on one side (no one in the truck), and the tires are the same size and pressure. (tough for you right now since the suspension is gone :D )

[ Image ]
hey the 2 measurment were exact, i measured 41 1/2 " :hd: hope its good  anybody got anymore do it yourself frame tips

Little late to the party here... I have my booster set up just like that, same booster, same bracket. I havent put my hood on but all my measurements say it will fit with room to spare.
