holy CRAP! that is one hell of a hitch. from your experience with off-road stuff, does tying the frame together like that help a lot with the flexing? seems like it would. My f100 frame could use some help in that department.

i've been using google picasa for my photo hosting for about 4 years now, they have an app that lets you upload, download and manage all your photos from your computer, and there is no funny business with fees or limits or crap like that.

they screwed it up with google plus if you use that, but if you don't, it works just fine.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you are worried about how much frame flex your truck has?
My best advice would be to leave it be, and let your buddy's laugh. But when their non frame flexing chevy's frame cracks like they all do, you can laugh back harder! It's an old ford thing. Frames flex like crazy. The older chevy's didnt, instead they cracked.

As far as how much my receiver helps eliminate flexing, i'm sure the very rear of the frame is more stout but even with the flatbed it'll still frame flex quite a bit in the fab to flatbed area.

Deadline set for Cantina on the Con. A huge Rubicon event. End of this month... i have a few weeks.
I WILL be debuting the truck there!

Parts to finish the brakes such as front calipers, soft lines and braided lines are inbound, and my buddy should be helping rebuild the transmission very soon. So the truck COULD possibly be drivable in a few days. All depends on how soon my buddy can help knock the trans out.

Dana 24 tcase started leaking a drop a day on me. I don't do leaks. It pushed me over the edge, i said screw it, dropped the dana 24 and picked up a NP205 for $180. Cleaned it up, and hoisted it in. Gives me a stronger t-case, lower ratio, larger input ujoint, and i bet this one doesn't pop out of gear every 5 minutes on the road.

Yes, the transmission is in the truck in this picture! mocking up so i can make the center driveline. It's going to be awfully "custom", but should work...

So much for cleaning up, installing, and making dana 24 support struts haha. Time to make a beefcake np205 support strut!

Fabricated and assembled the worlds shortest driveline today.
Appears I set the Cummins/drivetrain angle just perfect as the transmission points dead center of the t-case input yoke. Thank god.
I was going to make a single ujoint driveline, but decided to make a two ujoint driveline. It's about 6" ujoint to ujoint. Was worried at first but i'm pretty damn confident in the outcome of the unit.
One big down side of it though.... I have to put it in with the slip already in the tranny. If i ever need to replace a ujoint on this driveline i can't drop the driveline by itself in one piece and do so. I'll have to remove the larger ujoint on the truck then pull the driveline assemble, and then re-assemble in the same way.

Sure it's too late now, but if you ever decide to change it to a mated setup any auto trans parts supplier has umpty million 4x4 output shafts and OD housings on the shelf for that transmission. Dodge used the same OD housing on every hydraulic governed OD auto they made. They all use the same 23 spline output shaft. Last time I bought them I think I paid $45 a piece for the mainshaft and housing.

You can use a 241, 271 or a Ford 205 with Dodge input and a couple spacers. Can even use a Ford 271 with a 23 spline input. Once I even put a Dodge 23 spline input in a Ford divorced 205 and drilled the 6 bolt circle in the divorced case. It had some extra crap hanging off it (mounting ears), but worked fine.

Looks good though. I hope that short shaft works good (and isn't too hard to get in).

Good info thanks Dustin.

Got a new yoke on the np205.
Fabricated a NP205 support strut.
Put a couple more hours into rewiring the interior.
Got most of the wood cut, recessed and metal streps layed out in the flatbed

Welp. I built the transmission.

And it's now in the truck.

And should be fully drive-able tomorrow. So excited!
