I'm considering upgrading my 68 ignition switch (round terminals) to a later model ignition switch (bladed terminals).
I purchased a later model switch and pigtail, but the pigtail wired are all like 16 gauge wire, whereas several of the wires on my original switch are much larger gauge and correspond to larger round terminals.
Has anyone done an upgrade like this? What did you do about the mismatched wire gauges?
Also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for these switches?

Go to our home page.
Then diagrams and schematics , there are some wiring diagrams there.

Re: Ignition Switch Upgrade
The later model switch most likely has the smaller gauge wire to control a relay which takes a lot less power. If you are going to try and put the larger wires onto the later model switch, without upgrading to relays, you will probably burn it up.
