steering column firewall bracket

Post by lloyd70cs »

hi guys

I'm part way through my economy rebuild. got my power steering in and firewall pad mostly installed. was putting the column back in but the interior firewall bracket doesn't seem to work. do I need a specific one for power steering? I have the external one and the rubber seal. do I need this part? thanks

forgot to mention that it was originally a manual steering and it is a four speed floor shift in a 70 f250 2wd

Here's a picture of the interior bracket that I have. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. Thanks.

Thanks busboy. but that is the same one I have. it doesn't seem to fit the hole pattern well though. I could probably just drill new holes to attach to firewall couldn't I?

The one that mounts on the outside of the firewall is different between manual and power steering. I believe the interior bracket is the same.

Maybe these threads will be helpful, they have pictures of the different types of firewall brackets and seals:

Power and manual are different. I swapped to power steering but the plate that I got was too rusty to use. I made my own on the laser at work.
