All new power steering

Post by Ron_Hall »

Hi guys..

I have a new(reman) steering box and pump all hooked up. Question is, do I need to do anything when I put fluid in for the first time? ...like purging the air in the lines and if so, how would I do it? I have autozone power steering fluid but I also have type F ATF.
Thanks

typically I get the front up on jacks, add some fluid get it running turn the wheel lock to lock and keep adding until the level stabilizes, prob repeat several times until you get most air out. it if gets foamy at the end let the truck sit for a hour or so then come back to it.

Not insanely often. My work has a location in Reno though so i have always wanted to peak in there. Last time I was though that way was a few years ago on my way to to my property in elko. Nice halfway point.
