King Pin kits, is there a difference.

Post by DuckRyder »

Dennis Carpenter is actually the cheapest and claims to be USA.

NPD says it is TRW (Federal Mogul) but doesn’t give COO...

As you know Robert they typically won't list the COO due to it being cheap imported china crap, (or that's what I've found over the years when I question retailers).
I've got both a MOOG and an Elgin set here for sale, (NOS) that are both made by the hands of Americans using American steel.

Dang, Jeff, wish I had known you had some - need to get disk installed so I ordered the DC ones last night.

We’ll see what they look like, if they aren’t USA or I don’t like them I will get ahold of you...

In fact I should get hold of you anyway next time I’m headed for my northern territory as it touches the TN line.

I ordered my kingpin set from rock auto. I bought the moog set. I will double check but I am fairly certain that the box said made in USA.

Robert,
Please stop by as I'm five minutes, (one mile) off of I-75 and real...easy to find.
My time here should be short now, (headed back to the Sunshine State if all goes as planned) as the house should be listed next month.

Déjà vu.

Seems like we were just talking about king-pins.

If you have a competent machine shop near you, have them install and hone the bushings at the same time to the correct size. Reaming tears at the bronze material leaving a rough bearing surface that will wear out faster.

We were just talking about King Pin REAMERS and honing on the King Pin REAMER thread.

http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =5&t=75482

This is the King pin quality thread which doesn’t have anything to do with reaming or honing king pins, at least it should not have ever had anything to do with reaming kingpins. :D

That kit looks identical to the moog kit I ordered from rock auto. Same box, same markings on the parts. Trayer makes pins for all kinds of stuff. They make the linkage pins that caterpillar uses on their machines.

Real good to see "made in the USA on them Robert! Image

I've been reading a lot of reports of DC parts that quality control seemed to have dropped the ball.
Doesn't look like they have here.
