drum to disc question
I have a 1969 f100 ranger with power brakes and discs all around. I have purchased spindles and a proportioning valve from a 1979 f150 which should fit in place of my 69 spindles. I am converting the front brakes to disc. Will my 1969 brake booster and MC work with these 1979 disc brakes on the front? My 69 MC looks like any MC I've ever seen with a small and large chamber but I have heard something about bore size and I am not sure what that means. I will appreciate any knowledge and help with this. Thanks!

Following along, I want to see how the 79 spindles fit on a 69. Have you checked the King pin diameters ?69_ranger wrote:I have a 1969 f100 ranger with power brakes and discs all around. Re: drum to disc question
I have located the 1979 spindles. I am picking them up next week. I will check out the king pin sizes. I'll let you know. I hope I don't have to buy the I-beams too. Anyway, someone told me that the booster should be fine but I would probably need to go with the 1979 MC. I will do that if I don't hear anything different.

Re: drum to disc question
Should have grabbed the whole front suspension. The king pins are different. The 79 spindles won't work on the 69 I-beams without considerable modification if even possible. 73-74 are interchangeable but from 75 up the king pin diameter and length changed. I used '74 spindles on mine. http://www.fordification.com/tech/Ibeamsspindles.htm

Will the 1979 I-beams be what I need to make it work? Anything else?

You should also grab the pitman arm, drag link and tie rods. http://www.fordification.com/tech/str-s ... ations.htm You're old drag link should work but go ahead and grab the '79 just in case. If that '79 has tilt steering, have the time and don't mind the effort, get that steering column. Hard to come by and if you don't use it, somebody here will probably take it off your hands.

Re: drum to disc question
Get the proportioning valve from the '79 if it's still there, hopefully it's in good condition. You might also consider swapping to the more modern plastic tank master cylinder. Here's Ultraranger's writeup although the photos are lost in the Photobucket ransom scam. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =5&t=7773569_ranger wrote:I have a 1969 f100 ranger with power brakes and discs all around. Re: drum to disc question
I ended up buying the disc conversion kit from Classicdiscbrakes.com. I was able to use my stock spindles. Very easy. Warning with Classicdiscbrakes.com tho. It took forever to get the completed order with multiple shipments and me having to threaten them.
