Correct Front Brakes on 69

Post by Jchimbolo »

Not sure I have to correct brakes on the truck. 69. I was told it is an F250 front end, but might not be. The drums measure about 12 1/4 inches. In the Wagner online catalog I see 12" drums and 12 1/8 drums. 2" and 2 1/4 brakes. Any way to know what is supposed to mount up to the current Hub and backing plate correctly?

If it is an F-250 it would have 8 lugs on the front end. I ran into the same thing on my F-350 as there was more than one size shoe for it. Have you pulled the drums off to see if they are making contact or not and tried measuring your existing brake pad? Can you not take the existing pad to the parts store with you or is it a daily driver?
Not sure if the schematic will help you or not but it show different images of the shoes so it might.

Thanks, the autoparts store seems to think it is all 12 1/8 brakes. But the spring set up does not match some of the images Mine looks like this if it comes through.

Here Kieth states you could have either F-100 spindles, (5 lug) or F-250 (8 lug) spindles on the F-250.
How many lugs are on yours?
