Hello fellas, I'm in the middle of a CV swap on a 67 frame. I have a question about the factory tubes that brace between the frame. The factory tubes I've seen seem to protrude out of the top when they are welded in place and I wanted to use a 5/8 flat bar spacer on the bottom of the frame so, I could gain an extra 1/2 in. Height. I know it's not much, but if I can put 5/8 spacer on bottom instead of the top of the frame, it's an easy way to get extra 1/2 height.
So, if the factory tubes protrude on top will I be able to flip the top bracket flat or will it be angled? Because at that point I'd have over an inch in spacers. (5/8 flat bar + 1/2 or so, from tube weld)
I hope I'm explaining correctly?

Re: Crown Vic tubes question
Cut the bottom of the tubes (end without the threaded insert) and weld the tubes between the frame flanges, not protruding through the top. With the 5/8" spacer on the bottom, the top bracket will lay flat on the frame.
