Hello
i'm quite new to the old ford world and maybe somebody has already done that and could help me out with the parts needed. there seems to be conversion kits for the f100 but not for the f250. i know i could buy a donor truck and get the used one off of that one but i'd rather have a complete set in new or mint condition. any help would be highly appreciated. i already searched the net for quite some time but everything that shows up i rather bits and pieces nothing substancial
thanks andy

Re: 1972 F250 drums to disc conversion
I'm in the same boat. I was hoping someone would have the magic answer here. My understanding is the easiest and cheapest thing to do is the front end swap with a later 70's model. There is an article on here somewhere that goes over kingpin sizes and such in order to determine the right year to get. I got a front end including the power steering setup (i'm still checking to see if that will be compatible somehow) for pretty cheap.

The best and maybe only way is to get i beams with the brakes you want on them. Disc was available in 72 for the 250. I have a 71 i put the early disc setup on ,it is a little different than the later style i think it is better but the later style is good to. Just get the i beams and all, rebuild the brakes replace two bushings and throw it in . It seems harder than it is but it is not bad. And that is also a good time to replace springs while your in there.

M-100, can you use the same brake pedal setup if you have power booster already and using late 70s setup

Re: 1972 F250 drums to disc conversion
the single piston 79 setup i have on the parts front end looks identical to the single piston setup for 70 f100 f250 in the LMC catalogue. if there were a parts diagram of the 70 and 79 single piston setup right to the spindle I might be able to save myself and others a bigger job than necessary.
thanks

Your brake pedal and booster will work. It will be easiest to put the whole front ibeams and all in. From what i understand there are different size king pins and i think king pins are harder to deal with than just swaping the whole suspension.

Hi M100
check out the post on f350 near the top. f250 spindle is same for drums and discs apparently. so just calipers, rotors, etc and new mc and proportioning valve
