Hi, I am in need of a new master cylinder. What I find is that there seems to be a difference in manual brake master cylinders for 2WD or 4WD applications (Ebay, LMC, JCW). Exterior of the two types looks exactly the same. what is the difference ? Does it have to with the residual check valves ?

The residual valve, the diameter of the plunger in the master cylinder, the fitting size and the volume of the individual reservoirs.

In their original installation from the factory, a MC port or ports going to the drum brake circuits would have had an RPV in the port (just under the inverted flare seat).
If you by a direct replacement MC from the parts stores today, chances are very great that there won't be an RPV installed in the MC.

Do I need to install RPV if missing from the replacement MC ? Wheel cylinders are approx. 10 years old.
I ordered following on ebay: Brake Master Cylinder-PG Plus Professional Grade New fits 68-75 Ford F-250
