Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
So a little update, I've been driving it to work and around town. No major problems yet. Haven't wrecked it sooo that's good. It feels like its got a lot of low end torque for a mild/stock motor. It squalls the tires a bit. Which is pretty good i think for having 15x10 295 50 15 tires. The few problems I've had (if u would want to call them that). I needed to tighten the 2 large radiator hoses. After a long drive they leaked fluid. A bolt on a fender fell off... still perplexed about that one. And I had to tighten the power steering pump belt.
She sounds great, runs great and even in her ruff condition she's getting a lot of looks and "nice truck" from passer-byers.
My dad said he wished he had a truck like mine when he was my age.
I'm also getting a lot of "oh cool mustang bucket seats". And they are crazy comfy too.

I been following your build and I'm a fan of what you are doing/have done thus far. I have a 67 F100 SWB, C6, with a 460 Big block that I am in the process of up grading. If it's not too much to ask I would like to know where you got the Torsion Bar that you have on the front of your truck? Also since I am just a parts changer and not a real mechanic, how difficult was it to install. Thanks and keep up the good work

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
Hey thanks hdunlap
The sway Bar in front is an addco aftermarket sway Bar. $170+ online.mine came With brackets made for it before I bought it. I got it all from HIO on this forum. I've got 2 other types of sway bars. One that's oem and it connects up just like the addco upfront. But u will need to fabricate some brackets to connect it to your I beams. The oem bar is a bit thicker and heavier duty then the addco; which would be ideal for a big block. I've also got another kind that connects between your radios arms. Both I would be willing g to part with.
The addco bar (like the oem bar) was easy to install. Simply plug and play. I had to buy some end links and some brackets/bushing to bolt it to the frame. I only had to drill some small holes for the boltsml. Since I didn't have to fabricate any brackets with addco it was cheap.
In case u are wondering about these brackets I keep mentioning w/ the addco. If u were to buy an addco bar new. It would come with these not so strong "L" brackets that u have to drill n bolt to the i beams. I have found a lot of people online have found other ways to bolt there sway bars to there I beams.
I'm sure i posted some pics of the brackets I used on here. Take a look. Simular brackets are needed for the oem sway Bar if u are interested.

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
Something I've noticed about the truck while driving it is; that the ride is a bit bumpy. Kinda a hard ride. No big deal to me. To be expected really. Especially With a narrow wheel base and some old autozone $20 special shocks. But I'm thinking it's the sway Bar, stiffening the front end up a bit, I guess.

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
So I've been have not so good brakes. The brakes start working a few inches before the pedal hits the floor. And they do work well. I justvwant more. So i adjusted my oem f350 dual diaphragm brake booster output shaft out. It gave the truck more brake sooner in the pedal Length. But not "better" brakes. I'm going to adjust the rear brakes and if that doesn't help i'm going to try a aftermarket universal dual diaphragm booster that i use on most all our cars.
