I have an H-pipe in my '69 (390 w/ 2.5") and it sounds great!

Thanks johnboy, well in 90s ive always wanted this set up. not so much the wheels but the 10' wheels all the way around. down the road im thinking of getting Cragars or some pro stars. hold in there johnboy and make it home. cant wait to see your project.johnboy72 wrote:Nice rebuild going there. Sucks ya had to in the first place. I think we all had tire and wheels setup like that in the 90s!!! I used to cruise the strip in Branson with my black 72 SWB. Was very similar to your truck...maybe that's why I was requesting link to your thread. The avatar looked close. I get off this deployment in one piece, I'll have to show ya what I'm picking up. Wife should be linking up with the PO soon and he's delivering it to my buddy's house in Ponce De Leon or however you spell that....just south of Nixa, near Highlandville.

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
hey thanks knock, its only been 7 months since the wreck. and i dont think ive spent all that much money. well even when i get her road worthy again she will still need some major work; but shes worth it. it is a blessing in a way. ill have a semi ugly unfinished truck besides a clean truck with a few rust spots. but if everything goes well then ill have a better truck then when i got it. i guessKnockKnock wrote:Progress is coming along quite nicely. Despite the fact that this was an unexpected rebuild, I think you know that your bump is far better of for having it, so try to think of it as a blessing in disguise.
I second the H-pipe idea. It's good for both HP & torque, as well as mellows out the sound of the exhaust in the interior.

Pretty sure that support goes on the forward side of the upper valance, and the grille gets sandwiched in between the two. There should be clipnut on the support with the nut element pointing fwd. Then the bolt gets threaded in from the back side with a washer.

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
In your last picture you have it in front of the "clip nut". It needs to be on the other side of the nut, the bolt goes through your other latch rod (the one thats not installed yet) then that support piece, then into the clip nut thing.

The nut goes on the center grille support...any of these pics help? I can study it a little more and try again too.

Re: 1968 F100 2wd style side short bed.
Maybe this is better. I washed out the photos to show the fastener in the shadow. See how the clip nut is in the C-channel grille support? Your latch rod needs to go with the center support. I also included a pic of the lower attachment complete with a rusty bolt and dead bugs. Note that the bolt goes the opposite way. Hope this helps!
