Looks good! I've always like the way fat tires look on the front of a truck. Plus having 10" all the way means easier tire rotation and 1 spare tire.

I love these threads.

:pop:

:2cents: It's debated whether back-pressure actually does improve torque numbers, so for me it's all about sound. 2.5'' pipes sound really nice, and is likely what I would recommend to a customer, but I'm a big fan of 3's. Some folks don't like the sound (they tend to gurgle), but around here it's common-place, and even carries bragging-rights. Whatever you decide to go with, that truck is freakin' awesome! I can't wait to see the final outcome.

thanks knock, well i would like 3"s but i do like 2.5s sound. and ive only heard 3" on big blocks. since i have stock/mild 302, then 2.5s will do just fine.

whats your :2cents: on the H pipe? no room for a X pipe. i know the H pipes purpose and benifit but, what will it do to the sound of the exhaust with my flowmasters? i assume louder lol

My experience with running an H pipe is a more mellow sound. Most likely due to the balancing effect it has.

The new battery tray came in today finally. i loosely installed it since the i do not have the whole front end on. she looks nice. i noticed how 'not' shiny the paint i used is my inner fenders is, compared to the battery tray paint. lol its too shiny for an under the hood part. or maybe im just not one of 'those' classic truck owner types

well not much of an update but i installed a lower radiator hose the choke and brake booster hose.

i also painted the hood hinges, and installed one. (i still have a few things that i still need to install on the driverside)

i also sanded, painted and installed the upper valance. it came off a early 70s truck. not super nice but a decent used part.

next is the lower valance (is $45 too much to pay for a used lower valance in decent/good shape?) which i hope to buy from this guy a few towns over this week sometime.
then install the valance and prep the fenders for paint.

i found a decent 67 steel grille from a different guy a few towns over and MAAAAN hes weird. i almost dont want to meet up with him. but the price is right on the grille. $80
then once all the the parts are painted and on. i hope to get the engine running after i fill the radiator and change the oil and add some fluid to the C4 and power steering.
wish me luck :)

Welp, some updates. i have the brakes done ready for a test drive.

Heres a pic where im splicing in some line for now to get the brakes going.
Image
and here it is done. not my best work but all the brake bleeding went well with zero leaks :D in case you guys are wondering why my brake line splicing is so bad. whats u see isnt final, its just till i make sure everything else works. see i will be installing a proportioning valve, up near the MC. and i want to do it right so i will be replaceing many of the brake lines on the truck at a later date.
Why not now? beacuase there are so many other things i had to do and spend money on. Also at the present time didnt have the money or the eqiupment to do it the right way.
Incase you are wondering i dont plan on driving it much till ive finished the brake job the right way.
Image
I aslo picked up a lower valance in so so shape. its has 2 creases that im going to try and smooth out. i plan on finding another down the road. but for now this one will do just fine
Image

next ill be installing the rest of the fenders, and get the engine started.

Nice rebuild going there. Sucks ya had to in the first place. I think we all had tire and wheels setup like that in the 90s!!! I used to cruise the strip in Branson with my black 72 SWB. Was very similar to your truck...maybe that's why I was requesting link to your thread. The avatar looked close. I get off this deployment in one piece, I'll have to show ya what I'm picking up. Wife should be linking up with the PO soon and he's delivering it to my buddy's house in Ponce De Leon or however you spell that....just south of Nixa, near Highlandville.

Progress is coming along quite nicely. Despite the fact that this was an unexpected rebuild, I think you know that your bump is far better of for having it, so try to think of it as a blessing in disguise.

I second the H-pipe idea. It's good for both HP & torque, as well as mellows out the sound of the exhaust in the interior. :2cents:
