Jamie, those last switches you found worked great, they worked much better than the usual hobbs I was buying. I bought 10 of them and tried to find them again, but they must have all sold out. The price was a steal too.

Hours later with the pressure washer.


Fine metal material all over magnet just like my 727 and small metal bits in bottom right corner of pan. "worse" than the 727. Ran perfect though. And doesn't matter since it's all getting rebuilt.



Got my parts.


Kick panel carpet and my trusty LED 3cell mag lite/weapon.


Picked this up off a fellow Fordification member a few minutes away. A straight, steel '67 grill. Any guesses what the plans are for this badboy?


Also pressure washed all underneath the truck, bottom of the Cummins, etc. Trying to get a fresh start on getting it dirty again!

Layed down more sound deadener in the back of the cab just for the heck of it, and re-installed amplifier and subwoofer and wired them up. Re-mounted and wired the CB radio.
And fixed the cracks on the inner fenders.

Disregard if you already know this, but at some point around the 48RE intro Dodge went to a re-useable pan gasket. When you're bench building an auto there's a pretty good chance you're going to drop the pan a few times and that re-useable gasket is slick (and putting a drain in the pan). The gasket's around $15 and you only need to buy it once.

Also, be sure to follow the procedure for setting up the OD piston selective shim. It's in the ATSG book if you already have one. You can't just figure it will work because it worked before. The shim is dependant on the OD clutch stack height, change clutches, gotta change shim. There's a sonnex universal kit if you want to buy it in advance, but the solid shims are cheaper.

I do like the idea of a re-usable pan gasket. Seen them before but hadn't thought of getting my hands on one for this build.
I did install a drain on my 727 pan but I'm on the hunt for a deal on a used deep pan for a deal, and all the ones I've seen have a drain plug in them.

I'll have to look into the OD shim. I haven't ordered anything to rebuild any part of the overdrive and haven't started researching the basics of it. I'm not sure how much my buddy knows about the OD unites, i just know he knows his way around a 727.

I'll give you a word of advice rebuild the od section first. Because you can use the inter shaft to line everything up otherwise you need the tool.

Didn't think about that. I'll do that. I still haven't ordered any OD rebuild parts. I can't find anyone selling everything I need to rebuild the OD section and only the OD section.
