If all goes well I am hoping to put the IRS in this weekend. Plenty of pics along with comments coming as soon as it's in. I am using the mount kit from truckirs.com.

I just went to their site and looked at their tutorial for the install...looks like a clean and relatively easy job. I just might look into the availability and cost of an IRS around here (along with a Crown Vic. IFS).elgemcdlf wrote:If all goes well I am hoping to put the IRS in this weekend. Re: bumps with lowered altitude!! (lots of great custom bumps!!)
I paid $250 for the IFS. It was missing the left brake hose and PS lines. Make sure you get the PS lines. The end that goes into the rack is special. I have also seen the upper portion of the connecting shaft as part of what someone got. Make sure you get at least the bottom portion but it looks like you can save some money if you pick that piece up as well. The IRS I got for $125. Drum brakes, came with 4 wheels (tires were shot), two of which are on the front of the truck. Lincoln units came with alum pigs. You can also find units with disc brakes. Normal price around here is roughly $350. Here is the thread to my build.

Here is one with a FE. This is page 4 of 12.

Behind schedule (as usual) IRS pushed back a week due to replacing the left lower control arm up front. I started on it today and ran into a kink in the works so I am pushed out until next week when I can get back at it. The IRS we are doing in a friend's shop. Since my heart attack I can not be around any welding so he is going to do the welding work that is needed. I will have my hand into everything else though. He only has available space/time on a weekend. Says we have to have it out of the shop by Monday morn. Should be no problem.
