The first one. Well I didn't destroy it, just injured it pretty good. I'll be updating that thread soon but basically:
-Bent the heck out an i-beam
-pretzeled a 2.5x10" reservoir shock
-Sheered the lower shock mount off the radius arm
-Tranny cooler broke off and dug a hole in the radiator now they both leak
-put a hole in one of my 2 decent 35's
-air cleaner came loose but i don't want to think about the dust that got sucked in

Good evening Ryan,

I'm sorry to hear about your race truck! I crashed my first Bumpside so I know how it feels, although you've invested far more time in yours than I had in mine. I suppose when taking a vehicle racing, this may not be an entirely atypical event--I'm sorry to hear of this anyways!

I'll bet you're happier than ever about picking up your Highboy now.

Biggdogg, Check out the '71's build thread i just put a race report in there :D Race was great!

Robroy, It's nothing that isn't fixable. I have an entire 1 ton front end that I"ll be swapping over from the restored '69 chassis to the race truck after i re-bend the beams to match camber. The '71's build thread has some more info

Today after test driving the '71 around the block and finding it is not road worth what-so-ever, i am going to get the highboy in daily driver shape ASAP! I'm excited!
Here's what i got done today

-Sanded the bottom of the hood and bedlined it... then mounted it

Then a big thanks to a buddy who grabbed a set of 6 tires for me from the Ford dealier ship he works at! They were in the garbage pile. They have great tread, and are a perfect size! So i had them mounted on the 16" steel rims i got earlier. I still want to repaint them the correct off-white though.

I then swapped the new wheels on, and boy does it look better! Very original.
Then I finally took off those massive brackets off the front frame rails. Those suckers were a pain to get off!
Then I grabbed the stock bumper brackets that i got from the junkyard previously and installed them, then installed the chrome bumper.
I then grabbed the headlight doros and put those on. I still need to paint the black onto them to show that the truck is a Ranger, I love the black look too. I just need paint. Too bad i can't buy any... not 18.
Front end looks much cleaner now.
Then i drilled holes in each door for the nice big mirrors that look perfect on the highboy and will be great for towing. I lost the baggy that i had filled with perfect original hardware. That makes me mad!
I also screwed up on the apssenger door at first so i have to weld 2 holes shut later.
What it looked like yesterday

And now.

Then I ran gas line to the in-cab custom tank i have up against the inside of the bed, primed the lines up, and fired the beast up. i took it for a spin around the block. Oh man i can't wait!
Then i spent some time hooking up a bunch of wires. I still have no working electronics though.

I also broke my ignition. All the tumblers and springs fell out so the key will be a screwdriver.

I'm also spending a little time each day on the tt500. It's going to look SWEET in the bed of the highboy!

Time to spend all my money on parts! :D

Yep.... Free dollars for 6 tires in great condition that are the size i was looking for. How can you go wrong on that :D I'm going to mount one spare inside the bed in front of the wheel well on the passenger side and the other will stay at home as a backup-backup.... gee too many free tires!

Lovin' the high boy with the TT500 combo. You've got a sweet setup there.

Just ordered full anti-rattle kits for both doors, rear window weatherstripping, door weatherstripping adhesive, a quart of POR-15 and a quart of metal-ready, 2 25ft rools of sound deadener, another quart of Fire red paint, and a new ignition cylinder and key.

Christmas is coming... :D
Except it cost about $300

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
