lol The '69 body would be on the highboy if it wasn't for me saving all the good parts i can and selling them. I have gotten well over 25 emails about parts, Scheduling all these people to come take a look at them (half of the parts being at my house an half at the shop i keep driving back and forth!) is pretty hard.

I just got back from pulling a head off the 360 (in the 69) to see what it looked like inside and there was rusty water all over, but he wants the saddle tanks on the highboy so im cutting those bolts off.

But anyways, the whole front clip is off the highboy, it actually only took me about 10 minutes to take hte whole hood and front clip off myself. I love these simple trucks. I also completely unbolted the cab and the bed should be off right now except i need to get the tanks off for that guy.
Oh and I think for the '69 body on the highboy chassis im going to have to put my custom incab tank inside the bed and make a cover for it. No other way besides a mustang tank in the back, which i will also do sine this is a tow truck and i want as much gas as i can hold.

Didn't work on it today at all but yesterday i got a little something done
-Pulled the front clip off, pulled the cab off as well as the bed.
-Discovered that the 390 has a Edelbrock streetmaster 390 intake, a 4 barrel Holley carb, a bucket full of perfect coolant although i spilled it, and Moroso spark plug wires.
-Also found that the truck has onboard air bolted to the bed so im going to see if it still works.
-I got the stuck Ford hub free, just need to turn it with a wrench with barely any force and now it is easy to turn.
-Got the t-case free, when the body was off i just smacked the shifter with my palm and got it free, shifts through all the gears great now.
-Chassis barely rolled at all before and now when i set it back on the ground off of the jack i had to run and put blocks under it, on almost level ground.
-Pulled all good parts i could with the amount of time i have to do this. The mirrors (west coast style) are in very nice condition, rust free acron nuts and all so i am going to run those on the 69's body.

I'm thinking tomorrow I'll set the '69's body on and hook everything back up this week and hopefully have a driving truck at the end of this week

THe current plan is that i am going to put the 69 highboy all together and make it 100% drivable within a week and then i will gradually restore the chassis. I'll take the bed off within a month probably and restore the whole rear half of the chassis, then when i have time i will pull the cab off and front clip off and restore the front half. If the drivetrain is in great working condition i might only do a re-seal on everything and a nice re-paint. Although future plans include building a torque monster 390.

I've got my fingers crossed for you! If I was gonna guess I'd say that Holley on there will probably need a rebuild and tune; a LOT of people have no idea how to adjust one properly. Good luck! Hopefully it fires right off and runs smooth as glass.

Today i stropped by on my way home and got the front clip off the '69, bed is half off ready for the forklift and so is the cab. Tomorrow the whole 69's body is goign to be on the highboy chassis, and I am going to start hooking everything up. Should be driving this weekend if things go right

Very impressive work there Ryan, as usual. City codes and things like that can add more work to an already big job but it sounds like you have a good plan though.

Awesome progress.

Where is the rust coming from on the old 69s chassis?

The second picture of the highboys rolling chassis, are the front tires narrower then the back? Or is it just the picture?

The 2wd chassis has zero rust, that stuff you see is a rusty water sitting on top of the frame that was just pumped out of the cylidners of the 360.

Yep the front tires are more narrow than the rears. For tires and wheels, I'll be running something very similiar to this.

Good evening Ryan,

The rate at which you're progressing on this is extremely impressive to me! I'm amazed. And the body you re-finished looks fantastic on your new 4x4 rolling chassis.
