Thanks guys, i can't wait to go play with it! I'm going to try and get it running and driving today after school so i can drive it before i tear it down!

I'm not sure what the orange stuff is, I've never seen anything like it! I believe it is what you call "rust"? Not sure, it's a new substance to me :D I'm going to have to carry it around for a few months until i restore it

hey ryan can you take a pic of that saddle tank next to the t-case. i just want to see how its installed. i have a f100 4x and going to out a saddle tank in.
O and if you go and get a mid 70's 4x spindles for the front you can have disc brakes up front also you will need the distribution block from that truck too. i picked mine up for $70 its a good up grade IMO.

Yep i'll take that picture tomorrow if i remember. I do plan on going with discs, thanks

Today i spent 3 hours trying to get the thing to make the slightest effort at cranking. Failed. bad lol

I couldn't even get the headlights (or any electricty) to turn on after 3 hours of tinkering. So im done with trying to drive it before tearing it down. Tomorrow im going to start taking the body off the 4x4.

spent 2 hours in the rain working on removing rusted bolts and nuts. I got the bed off, rear cab mount bolts out along with the in-cab gas takn. I've hard to cut out 4 bolts so far.
One or two more days of work (can't work on it tomorrow) and I'll have a bare chassis, and the '69's body will start to go on

I'm sure your parents are staying on top of this... but don't forget about your homework/studies/keeping mom and dad happy too! Glad things are working out for you so far with the highboy. :D

i bet that tank sits outside the frame rail. the door is just like all the other doors that have that same tank under the bed. my 68 has two of those types of doors on it. those tanks have never been used by me though. they weren't hooked up anymore when i got the truck.

EDIT: those types of tanks are botled through the bed and tank.

You guys are funny; that truck is pretty clean and would be considered darn near rust free around here!

I got a job at a pizza place :D :D :D WIth all the money from selling parts plus my paychecks, I'll be restoring the highboy chassis much sooner than planned! Very excited to start dumping 10x as much money into this truck than i was before lol
