1993 explorer steering wheel diagrams

I have a 1993 ford explorer that had a weird noise in the steering wheel.
I took if apart and found triangle shaped metal part that came loose. I'm
wondering if it's NEEDED for anything. It's doesn't seem to be there for
any reason execpt maybe support. Can anyone tell if this IS for anything
special? Thank you

compy52, first let me say welcome and if you plan to stick around go do an intro and tell us about yourself.
Now there may be someone on here that is familiar with a 93 Exploder but this forum focuses mainly on 67-72 F series pickups. I wouldn't think it is just an un needed part to be discarded, it must have broken off something.
