looking good ryan, i don't see why a tarp or canvas couldn't be made into a roof and save you some money?

A roof made by me would have to be darn near perfect to work right. Any slight mis-fit or loose-ness will result in water puddles that will tear the whole thing down. There are little bungee cords all allong the tube to strap the roof down, and i wouldn't be able to install the metal rings in a new tarp like they did from the factory, that's the only way it won't rip at the bungee's.

Thanks, we actually Gorilla taped (if you don't know what Gorilla tape is, then you are missing out on so much) the whole roof back together and had a wind storm yesterday... it survived! Viva La Gorilla Tape!!!!!!!!!
However the project is on idle until the end of November (my 16th b-day, monaaaayyyy!) because i have no money. i can't put the interior together with out firewall cover/carpet and i need all new weather stripping for everything, i need a windshield, hood, rebuild the engine, so much stuff.
But with my birthday and Christmas this thing should get lots of progress soon!

i dont know if you told us or not but what happened to your job at the welding shop? cant wait to see some more progress and the paint looks sweet!

I don't usually work at the welding shop during school, because i'd only get an hour in after school each day and that's really not worth getting really dirty after school every day. So it's really just a summer job, but i get my license in a few weeks and i will most likely be working at a pizza shop with my brother when i get it.

that sucks, i would love to land a welding job but most of the places around here want more expeirence than a high school shop class. i just got a job at a home for the disabled so my build thread should start soon, i hope i can do half the good work you have done on your bumps.

I think it's a combination of the shiney paint, slightly out of focus (like trying to get Macro to work and not doing so), and high contrast.

Not much of an update because i still haven no money.
But i got a deal on a dash pad and hood from Jon (Rockerdog), $80 for the pad and hood.
The dash pad was in perfect condition until after i installed it, i noticed that i put a crack in it behind the speaker hole (Wasn't there before, oh well, it's not very noticable)
The hood is now my 4th hood, but i am painting this one! It is very straight, two spots of bondo on it. I have a little bit of sanding left to do on it and it will be painted starting monday.

SOooo i havent touched the truck in a while. But, that's going to change real quick. After this week, I have 3 weeks off of school! And, today, I went and bought a 360 that sounds/runs excellent for $200. Starts right up and purrs. I'm going to take my c6 and this 360 and drop them in very soon, and get it all hooked up! The '69 will be on the road a lot quicker than i expected ,because i was going to wait to build the 390 but im dropping this 360 in for like 5 months, until the 390 is ready to go in.
A quick list of stuff to do before it drives...
-Bolt the D60 up
-New brake parts, I am going to leave the rear brakes alone for now, they are fine for now. Im going to wait and just go to disks
-Hook the drivetrain up
-Paint the hood
-carpet, finish interior
-some more wiring and plumbing
-Setup the power steering
-8lug frontend
I should be able to get this thing way close to driving by the end of my break This next 3 weeks should be exciting

YEeeeehawww into the outside world at last!!!
-Stripped/por-15'd, and installed the Dana 60
-towed it out of the sideyard finally
-Riveted on the rear FORD tailgate panel
-Cleaned the c6 tranny and installed it
-and any second now my 360 will be getting delivered, along with a Saginaw steering box, drivers side engine perch, and column bracket
Forgot to get before and stripped pictures but emagine a typical rearend, then a nice, bare metal rearend, and here's the painted version. It is indeed a posi, according tothe tag that says posi-gear oil only Score..
Before rolling it outside i had to knock the truck over though. THAT was fun! IF that tire i was putting on wasn't flat, and hte bed was bolted down, oh man. And, if the bed was bolted down, a jack stand that was under the truck would of put a hell of a dent in the floor of the bed. And, luckily i didnt get crushed... and luckily nothing happened to the truck at all
Then moving the rearend of the truck back over to the center of the garage so it could be towed out... was even more fun

The 35's i stole from my '71 fit the truck so well, and the truck sits really high compared to the rear of my '71. I like it... I also like the look of no bumper, I'll leave it like it is for a while. Then maybea roll pan or something i dont know.
Tomorrow's agenda...
-Completely clean the 360 of all grease, right now it has an amazing amount of grease all over it. Pull the intake and replace the intake gasket, re-install, re-paint whole engine.
-Install the engine, mated to the c6, and install the driveshafts. Hook up engine wiring.... maybe even run it
-Install the Saginaw power steering box, shorten my steering column, paint and install it and the steering wheel
To think that tomorrow the truck should be running, and have full steering, and half of hte brakes done, it's soooooo close! I have 3 more weeks of break to work on it too!
