Bootleg aftermarket awesomeness! show us what you got.
Okay, I'm not sure if anyone has started a topic like this before so I apologize if they have and i'm double posting. But I got the idea from the "big burtha" topic in the project updates board.
But here's the idea. I know that during the progress of most of our projects we've all seen some spectacular solutions to problems that were fixed with less than adequate parts.
perhaps some examples to let you all know what the hell I'm talking about.
aftermarket exhaust hangers
Sport Pedals
Custom mesh grill
you get the idea, i'm sure i'm not the only one with stuff like this.

Re: Bootleg aftermarket awesomeness! show us what you got.
My 4x4 came home from it's previous owner with some rather 'unique fixes' applied to it.
How about this one:
The MC's rear reservoir was capped off with an air-hose quick-disconnect which had been welded shut. The front reservoir had a flexible line attached to it via several homemade adapters.
Same truck. Guess the previous owner ran out of fuses, so he found something else to use....
...which I'm sure probably had something to do with the meltdown I found under the dash:
Different truck...this '67 was in a salvage yard. (Got some good rust-free doors and a sport bumper w/brackets from it.) I guess it's owner decided to mount some 6 x 9's in the dash....maybe with an air chisel? (BTW, note the 'cool' padded steering wheel...foam rubber and lots of electrical tape.)
The same owner then apparently took the same air chisel to the floorboard, to cut out a HUGE hole to stick a rod down through for a shifter when his column shifter broke:
One more. The PO of this truck converted his truck to power steering with a Saginaw box. When he found that the new box altered the angle of the column through the firewall, and that he didn't have the appropriate PS column firewall plate, he simply 'glued' it into place with a can of expandable foam. Guess he decided that since there was still some foam left in the can, he went around sealing up various firewall holes.

this has gotten me to wondering just what the hell the previous owners of our trucks were thinking when they did this stuff. all I can come up with is:
"beer money v.s. parts for the truck I go to buy the beer in."
best I can do.

Ok I got some thease are of my truck that I bought on Ebat and the guy said it was a good truck you know all that BS and when the cab swap started I found all this.
This My Professionally Installed Tranny. It Sarted Out With A 3spd On The Floor And In This Picture Was Afer They Changed It Over To Auto.
And Here's The Tranny Mount When I Got It There Were No Nuts On The Bolts
Also He Told Me There Was A Little Rust In The Floors But It Was Also Professonaly Fixed. All This Was Covered Up By Pices Of Intertube
And The Totally Awosme Battery Tray Fix
And The Dent Fix That Bondo Was Really Thick On Spot Was Almost Half Inch Thick And On The Bottom Of The Bed You Could See Where It Had Run Off The Bed A Dried Like That
The Rest Of Thease Are Of Custom Stuff I Found On My New Cab. The Story Behind It Is That The Guy Bought It From Told Me That The Guy He Got The Cab From Bought It Brand New And Took It Home And Put It On An International 4x4 Frame. Witch Is True Because I Have All The Recipts And Stuff From When He Bought It. Even The Orignal MO Tilte.
You Can See Where They Cut It To Fit The IH Stuff On The Tranny Hump.
If You Look At The Cab Mount You Can See There Custom Too.
I Guess The Had To Cut The Firewall For Something
And Were They Fixed The Neutral Saftey Switch
I'm Guilty Of This Rig Job I Made Some Temp. Cab Mounts To Set My Cab Back Down On The Frame. My Welder Really Sucks So They Don't Look Pretty But There Still Holding The Cab The The Frame Till I Can Get The Cash To Buy The New Mounts And A Better Welder.

that battery tray fix is AWESOME! i should take pic of mine. the PO had it (the battery) held on by a bungie cord. I took it apart but I bet I could approximate it pretty simply.
the 3 speed shifter fix is pretty amazing too.

that's freakin' amazing. I'm kind a shocked that your truck didn't catch a slight case of, " holy crap it's on fire."

From a '67 F350 that 71LongBed and I bought and scrapped together a couple years ago.
Did somebody say Bondo?
Somewhere I have a picture of a chunk of the Bondo and aluminum foil that was in that hole.
