And where did the dog get black on her paws??? The good news is that my garage floor won't rust.

she probably stepped poop. since theres no mud. if it was por-15 then it would still be on the carpet.

your garage's concrete is as rust free as can be 8)

You should try spraying it on the underside of your bed before I try it

I'm not interested in brushing that much of it on.

My other question is to anyone Ryan and I have debated over Por's warning label about even getting a drop of water in the can will ruin it (haven't read the label myself). Can anyone solve our mystery as to why this would be? :hj:

POR cures with humidity. The lower the humidity is in the air the longer it takes to cure. A drop of water in the can is like adding catalyst to epoxy.
from there web site-
"HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE POR-15 TO DRY?
That depends on the ambient humidity (surrounding area). The more humid the area, the faster the dry time."

Continuing hijack...

I painted the rest of the rear frame on my F250 last Saturday. The humidity had to have been in the 90% range. The paint was setting up in the brush and the small pan I was painting from. Back in the spring, I didn't have that problem.

yeah the por-15 dries kinda fast. in a few hours its pretty solid, overnight its as solid as rock hard solidness gets.

it says that it will not stick properly if this happens :? one drop in a whole quart seems odd though.

UPDAaaaTeE:

-removed the undertank stuff from the 71 to use in the 69. since it will be a tow vehicle i dont want to stop alot at gas stations with a big trailer. removing this damn setup took about 4 hours. what a PAIN. its still not even all removed, im still grinding off rivets of brackets.
-stripped top/bottom and POR-15'd dual tank skid plate
-stripped/POR-15'd all the brackets besides the ones that are still riveted onto the 71
-stripped front/back and POR-15'd core support.
-POR-15'd the insides of the doors
-went shopping at Harbor Freight, got 4 wire wheels, cut off grinder, disks for it, PB blaster a air line fitting, satin black spray paint
-sliced the under-bed spare tire mount off. it was stripped.
-stripped the bottom of the lower valance
-spare tire carrier
-disassembled a leaf pack
-stripped all the leafs out of one pack

thats all i can think of.

WOW. i found rust holes! the only rust holes on the truck, i was absolutely amazed

note to self: do NOT paint brackets on top of newspaper. newspaper tends to stick to por-15, ruining the endges of the bracket resulting in poor results. i just scraped the little bits off and ill give them another coat

re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 7/13 more stripping/ por-15

Post by 72stepside »

I hang the small stuff up. I stretch a ratchet strap between two posts in my shop and hang the part to be painted off the strap with clothes hanger wire. If you're careful, the POR-15 will stick to a tiny bit of the hanger wire, which is much easier to deal with than newspaper.

Did you decide if you were gonna spray the underside of your bed? Try it out and let me know how it goes.

Good progress !

im going to use coat hanger for now on with small stuff, i like the ratchet strap idea too.

im not going to be spraying any por-15, since i dont that much more to do, ill just keep brushing. i dont want to risk my spray gun.

im sure it would look good, i know once im brushing it on the bottom of the bed its going to be dry by the time i get to the other side. ill have to hurry.or maybe do a half at at time.
