1966 4X4 front axle in 1966 F250 frame

Post by Furback Sniper »

I cannot find any info yet here on this. I am wondering if the coil spring mount front drive axle from a 1966 F100 4X4 will fit into the mounts of a 1966 F250 2 wheel drive frame. In other words convert the F250 2X2 to F100 4X4. Thanks.

:wel: Welcome to the site.

The problem with converting 2wd to 4wd is the big crossmember in the middle .

You're much further ahead buying a late 70s 4X4 and putting your body on it.
The later trucks have disc brakes and power steering.
The later trucks have a 2 inch longer wheel base and the rear of the frame is a little wider , but that's easier to deal with
than trying to convert a 2wd frame.

:wel: To fordification. Yes another vote for it will be difficult to convert into a 2wd frame. your best bet is to find a true highboy frame and start building body swap it. So many trucks done this way. Mine was one of them. Or you can start with a 78-79 frame with power steering disc brake axles and all give you a really nice platform.
Just another Ford fool named Dan.
