Get the intermittent switch and black module box out of a late 80's pickup. Cut @ 1/2" off the shaft and it's a plug and play install.

I believe some '73-'79 trucks had them too, should also use the same steps as described above.

Correct-78' and 79' were the only two years of the dent era that offered them.
I installed the 79' delay on my last bump and it was such...an improvement-to not have to be constantly reaching down to turn the switch on and off when it was sprinkling rain.

Morning,

Being I live in the Great North-Wet, this was the best Mod I ever installed on truck.

I got the delay box and switch from a 1976 1/2T 4x4 many years ago.

Thanks,
Lee

Never saw them on the 73' thru 77' dent era trucks Tom. When I found mine it was using a search engine of 78' thru 79' delay wiper switch.
Even half way down here on the factory "options dealer sheet" it only lists the two speed wiper with no mention of delayed wiper option.

And here Kieth has no mention of the early years having it either? :hmm:

Any other sources for the 73' thru 77' dent era wiper delay information?

Hi,

I went to Auto-Zone's website and searched for a Intermittent Wiper switch for 1976 F100.

Then there is a Tab for "Vehicle Fitment". It lists 205 Fords that used this switch.... showing trucks back to 1973.

Lee that maybe the switch but to my understanding there is another part that does the delay, it's a black box that works with the switch.

That is correct. You need the wiper delay governor D3TZ-17C476-A. Good luck finding one cheap!

Make sure you get the right switch. The delay switch and the standard switch are different. You want the D1OZ-17A553-A. The harness is integrated into the delay governor so if you find that, the harness should be included.

"FITMENT AND OEM BEING TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS LEE!

I CAN GO TO AUTOZONE'S WEBSITE AND SEE "FITMENT" OF 38' SUPER SWAMPERS FOR MY OLD 76' BRONCO!

But they were never OEM.
